Sanitarium's Weet-Bix Kids has been named 'Best Kids Food' by influential magazine CHOICE.
The newest member of the Weet-Bix family, Weet-Bix Kids beat 28 other kids cereals to take out the honour.
Formulated specifically for kids (1-7 years) Weet-Bix Kids contains extra calcium and iron. This, together with it being low in fat, sodium and sugar and high in fibre and wholegrain content, provides the perfect start to the day for young, growing bodies.
Sanitarium Marketing Manager, Cereals, Andrew Hewson says it is imperative to ensure kids get a healthy start to the day.
"We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day - particularly at a time when young bodies are requiring essential nutrients and vitamins for growth and development."
The investigation also names Sanitarium's Honey Weets as one of only five cereals that meet all the requirements for a healthy breakfast amongst those specifically targeted at children.
"We are thrilled that both Sanitarium's Weet-Bix Kids and Honey Weets have been recognised by CHOICE Magazine for their first-class nutritional offering and support any campaign that will help parents make educated and informed choices about the food their children are eating" says Mr Hewson.
To help parents choose the healthier foods, CHOICE has set-up an interactive database called the 'Food for Kids' website www.choicefoodforkids.com.au. All foods on the site are given a red, amber or green light for their sugar, fat and salt content.
